ACP stands for Audience, Community, Product. The sequence reverses the common pattern of building a product first and searching for distribution afterward. The entrepreneur begins by publishing distinctive, high-quality content for a defined niche and learns which topics attract the intended people. The most engaged audience members are then brought into a community where interaction, trust, recurring problems, and purchasing signals become visible. Only after this learning does the entrepreneur create a product aligned with the community's demonstrated needs. AI video and faceless brand accounts can accelerate the audience stage, but raw virality is insufficient if the followers have no relationship to a commercially useful niche. The output is a product with built-in distribution, informed early customers, and a continuing feedback loop.

Origin

Greg Eisenberg described ACP as the framework on which he builds all his businesses during Marketing Against The Grain.

Core principles

  • 01Earn attention before asking the market to buy.
  • 02Use consistent valuable content to attract a defined audience.
  • 03Turn passive reach into repeated relationships and feedback.
  • 04Let community evidence shape the eventual product.
  • 05Treat distribution as an asset built before launch.

How to run it

  1. 1

    Choose the Niche

Select a topic with meaningful problems, identifiable people, and plausible paths to monetization.

Pro tip Work backward from the kind of customer and product the audience might eventually support.

Watch out A broad entertainment niche can generate followers who share no useful commercial need.

  2. 2

    Build the Audience

Publish consistently useful, entertaining, or distinctive content that attracts people in the niche.

Pro tip Use repeatable formats and high-quality creative production to compound recognition.

Watch out Do not optimize only for total views; monitor whether the right people are arriving.

  3. 3

    Convert Attention into Community

Create a channel where audience members interact repeatedly with the creator and one another.

Pro tip Invite discussion around practical problems rather than broadcasting continuously.

Watch out A mailing list or group is not a community unless members return and engage.

  4. 4

    Listen for Demand

Track recurring questions, frustrations, workarounds, desired outcomes, and signs of willingness to pay.

Pro tip Use interviews, polls, preorders, and direct conversations to strengthen the signal.

Watch out The loudest request may not represent the most valuable need.

  5. 5

    Build the Product

Create a focused product that solves a repeated, validated problem for the community.

Pro tip Recruit early users from the people who contributed the strongest evidence.

Watch out Do not force an unrelated product onto an audience merely because it is large.

  6. 6

    Loop Product Learning Back

Use customer outcomes and community discussion to improve both the product and future content.

Pro tip Publish lessons and customer successes that attract more qualified audience members.

Watch out Over-commercialization can damage the trust that powers the funnel.

In the wild

AI Video Niche Account

A founder creates consistently strong AI videos about cemetery operations rather than unrelated viral clips. The account attracts cemetery professionals, converts interested followers into a practitioner community, identifies their recurring record-management problems, and eventually launches a focused product to that group.

The founder enters product development with distribution and direct customer insight.

Common mistakes

Chasing Unrelated Virality

Millions of views from generic entertainment may produce no audience for the intended product.

Skipping the Community Stage

Passive followers provide weaker trust and demand evidence than people who interact repeatedly.

Predetermining the Product

The method loses its discovery advantage when the founder ignores what the community actually needs.

Is it for you?

Best for

Creators and entrepreneurs who can publish consistently around a defined niche and want to reduce launch risk.

Not ideal for

Founders addressing urgent enterprise problems where direct sales can validate demand faster than audience building.
